Planning Commission Appointment:
The Carpinteria City Council appointed Robert to the Planning Commission in 1995 to fill a vacancy. The term was just 10 months. Each full term is 2 years. Robert has been re-appointed four times sense. Each Commissioner serves at the pleasure of the entire City Council and is appointed or removed by a majority of Council members.

The City of Carpinteria Planning Commission meetings are televised live on the first Monday of each month. Meetings begin at 6:30pm with a normal adjournment at 11pm. In rare occasions the Commission meeting may run at late (early) as 1am.

The Commission elects its Chair and Vice Chair every two years. Robert was elected Chair in January 2002. March 2003 begins Robert's second term as Commission Chair.
